Orangetheory Fitness - Six week weight loss challenge
Each new Orange Theory gym that opens kicks it off with a six week weight loss challenge. He and she who lose the largest percentage of weight based on original weigh in wins $2500. I could try to explain in detail Orange Theory's theory, but it's much easier to go to their site www.orangetheoryfitness.com. I wrote a relatively detailed description of our first workout under Week 1 if you want a my description of an individual session. I am taking part in the challenge at the new Coral Springs/Parkland, Fl studio. The studio is opening days after their national weight loss challenge that officially began January 9th, we are hoping that I can still be a contender in that as well. UPDATE: I have been added to the national challenge with that prize being $5000, I have to weigh in on the same final day, they started the 9th and I officially started the 12th...so I best get in gear!
My goals:
1) Regain my health, confidence and healthy living style.
2) Win my six week challenge.
3) Win the national challenge.
4) Make Orangetheory change their website. Currently the most lost in six weeks is 48 lbs.
Part of entering this challenge requires attending a minimum of four Orangetheory sessions per week and recording ALL food and drink intake. I think the more interesting data would be what I CURRENTLY take in on a daily basis, I'm glad I don't have that to share! I plan on a very strict regimen while doing this challenge, including no alcohol, no soda, and significantly limiting sugars, sodium, and caffeine. I have created an excel spread sheet that breaks down each day into 30 min intervals. When you do this you realize that committing to work out an hour a day is truly not that much time. There are many more hours in that day you can 'fall off the wagon'. With that, rather than saying 'no' as I've done for the last number of years, I think I will surprise my wife and say 'yes, honey I'd love to do yoga'. As seen on the home page, she's a bit better at it than I am. I can only take credit for framing the shot!

The photos below were taken on Meagan and I's trip to St. Lucia last year. To get from the center bottom photo to the point in which you can take the others and back down again takes six hours. It is NOT a leisurely stroll. Climbing that mountain was not something I could have done with out my wife, she will be a vital part of this challenge as well. I plan to use those six hours as motivation for the next six weeks.
