Week 5 weight loss, -6.6 lbs = -40.4 lbs to date.
Week 5 all ready in the books and I haven't updated this page at all! I'll try to remember, the weeks seem to be getting longer to me. Sorry for no update pics on the week 4 page, it was a 3 lb week so it would be really hard to see a difference. In week 4 I tried six striaght days of OTF but no additional walks or work outs. It turned out to be my lowest week for weight loss so week 5 I decided to switch it up a little. I went with a lower carb approach, but not zero carb, and not as much meat. It was a week filled with eggs, fruit, salads, fish, vegetables, boiled eggs, cottage cheese...and one night out for Valentines day. Still chose wisely with the shrimp skewers over brown rice and Meg got the Filet. We shared everything including lettuce wraps for an appetizer, so had an awesome meal and didn't go too far off track. I think part of my mistake in week 4 was that I ate too little, so this meal was probably benefitial in kicking in the metabolism a little bit. My additional workouts were two 5 mile walks and hockey one night. The trainer reminded me that a day of rest goes a long way, so I took Wednesday off completely from doing significant excersise. They also said to really push during the workouts to try to give my metabolism an extra boost and not remain at a plateau. I really thought thats where I was headed, even yesterday I was saying I probably lost 2-3 lbs max. I'm still losing a little bit from everywhere so it's really hard for me to tell if I've lost any at all. My clothes are deffinately the tell tale sign. Given my body composition all the way through about 30 lbs my clothes still fit, a bit better than before but not to the point of having to shelve them. Now...I have pants that are deffinately too big. My thighs have always caused pants purchase issues, at least a size bigger waist to accomodate. Now that I've lost 4 inches off of each thigh I'll be able to by smaller pants but proportionately they are still tree trunks so I'm sure the one size adjustment will still be in effect.
Looking back to before I started and envisioning what I would feel like in week 5, I really thought I would have pain issues, maybe lingering injury, but honestly I have never felt better. I really have to push hard to get my heart rate up but have found that a challenge that I enjoy (who said that??). Walking the dog yesterday my body felt like running, so Tyson and I ran for about a mile and a half. He does pretty good most of the time, he likes to hit the grass and 'frolic', can't pass another dog with out darting into my feet, and seems to have to pee more often when running. He loves it so it motivates me to keep going.
It's been a stressful week, I'm glad it's behind me. The National challenge weigh in is on Sunday, which is unfortunate since I won't get a full six weeks of weight loss. I knew that going in and entered anyway, rumor has it there is someone that has lost over 50 lbs so I'm sure I will have done pretty well but don't think I've lost enough to take home that prize. Just one more week!
