Week 6 I decided to go really low carb and high protein, and no meats other than white fish. Along with my standard 5 days of OTF I also did a bike ride, several walks, two hard workouts two days before weigh in and three moderate to heavy workouts the day before. I was weighing in on Fridays for my weekly checkpoints but since Saturday was the official final day I did my final weigh in on Saturday. I also did the OTF class with Patti prior to the weigh in...it was a great class, she mixed it up and made it heavily cardio, one minute intervals at each of the gyms three sections. I think I lost a pound of sweat just from that class alone! I knew I had a really strong week with my diet and exercise but had not stepped on the scale at all since the final weigh in for the national. Since Patti has been a big part of this challenge I asked her to witness my final weigh in. To even my surprise the final weight of 231.8 came up! Wow..I was not expecting that number. I wanted to break the record of 48 lbs lost during an OTF challenge...but 59.2! Just more proof that combining a strict diet with OTF will provide amazing results. I do have to be honest, I'm looking forward to a couple days off from OTF, Meg and I are going to hit up a couple of our favorite restuarants have some wine and celebrate! I think I'll take it easy at OTF this week...3-4 classes.

The National challenge final weigh in was Sunday the 19th. After cheering Meg on at her half marathon in the morning we stopped at OTF to weigh in. Had I not known the date, I'm pretty sure I would have missed it, OTF has had no communication with me about the National challenge at all (aside from one conversation that I brought up). I don't even know when they are announcing the winner. The conversation that I did have lead to learning that there is another contestant that has lost over 50 lbs. I don't know that persons starting weight but I'm assuming that will be tough to beat. My official final weight for the National was 243.6, that is 47.4 lbs lost equaling 16.28%. I'd say that's pretty solid given that I had five less days than anyone else. It's really too bad because by the end of six weeks for me I think I can be several pounds lighter. It will be interesting to hear the final results...if they communicate them to me!
Today's workout was the 'poorest' I've had since I started. I felt really rundown. I think it was a combination of forgetting to take my vitamins, eating pretty light yesterday, and drinking a ton of water. The water probably flushed out any nutrients I did have in my system. I'm still enjoying the workouts, more than that how it makes me feel afterward. Having gone for five days a week for the past five weeks I will say the format of the workout starts to feel a little routine. The trainers have talked about that and changing up the class on occasion, that combined with going three days a week rather than five will help.
Five days left, I feel good and am going to continue my standard schedule for this final week. I am going to add a few walks, all ready did a long bike ride, and am sticking with the lower carb high protien diet...minus meat (other than fish). I will be posting final results soon. Through week five I am in first place...up by just over 2%, not comfortable enough to lose focus.
